Yellow Rice

Yellow Rice


  • 1½ cups long grain white rice
  • 3 cups chicken stock
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium shallot, minced
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Kosher salt, to taste


Heat oil in pan with rice, shallots and garlic for few minutes but do not brown garlic, rice or shallots.  Add chicken stock and stir in turmeric powder and a little salt, bring pot up to boil and then reduce to low and cover, continue to cook for 20 minutes or until rice is cooked through.  Taste for seasoning, add more salt if needed. Fluff with a fork and serve immediately.
